Newly Designed PSP 4000!

I know I haven't updated the blog in a while, and I apologize for that but I have returned with GREAT news! The great folks at Sony have not given up on the PSP as rumored by those outside sources.

The PSP 4000 is the new version of Sony's handheld. Without getting into all of the specifics, I will say that the biggest addition to the PSP is a sliding screen. This sliding screen will slide upward and reveal the controls to the handheld UNDERNEATH the screen.

There is also a feature that will allow you to use just the portables shoulder button's. This feature would be perfect in a game that doesn't require the full use of the PSP 4000's controls. There is also the most controversial change to the PSP that is rumored to happen. That is the rumor concerning the PSP's UMD drive.

There are numerous rumors that Sony is going to completely remove the UMD drive. This is a complete reversal of the previous versions of the PSP. Sources claim that Sony is removing the UMD drive because they want the new PSP to be a sleeker design. There are also rumors of Sony using some kind of "memory stick design" to replace the UMD. Who knows, but if anyone can make it happen, it's Sony.

This brand new PSP 4000 is rumored to appear at the end of 2009! So save your quarters because I haven't heard anything about price. I've included some pictures of the supposed mockup but to learn more you should check out this website.

New Games For The PSP!

When I started this blog I must admit that I was a little naive because I thought that the PSP would not have as many new titles and news everyday that they do have! I was kind of dismayed with the news about the supposed "demise" of the PSP. I have to say that all of the news about the demise of the PSP is very wrong. Not only has the PSP sold more than 10 million in Japan, it also has an impressive list of games coming out for it in the U.S. Lets get started with the list!

Resistance: Retribution!

Resistance: Retribution is the PSP version of the best selling PS3 game. The biggest controversy about this game is the PS3/PSP connection. Apparently you will be able to connect your PS3 to the PSP and play Resistance: Retribution using the PS3 dual shock joysticks. This feature is called PSP-plus and most of the people who have heard about it call it a "60 cheat code" because it has another feature that only works if you own the PS3 version of the game.

If you own the PS3 version of the game you will be able to access the so-called "Infected Mode." The "Infected Mode" changes the lead character and makes him infected with the "Chimera" virus, turning his eyes orange and changing his outfit. This feature also changes the way the PSP game is played. It in fact, changes the game completely. And a lot of people are upset about it because if you don't own "Resistance" for the PS3, then you will never see these changes in the game. Resistance: Retribution is set to release on March 17.

G.I. JOE For The PSP!

How many of you out there saw Super Bowl 43? OK, now how many saw the G.I. Joe teaser trailer in the beginning? You'd be surprised at just how many people missed it! I didn't! For a 80's kid like myself, this is a dream come true! I'm pretty sure that I had at least 10 of the action figures growing up! The trailer was only 30 seconds long but, I was impressed! Never the less, Electronic Arts(EA) has been tasked with making the game to coincide with the movie release in August of 2009.

Very little has been released about the movie or the game. From what I'm hearing, there will be more than one G.I. Joe movie because lead actor, Dennis Quaid, rumor has it, has signed up for two more movies. But that's all rumor! I'm not going to deal with rumor on this movie or game. But I will tell you the information that I do have on the game.

The game is supposed to pick up where the movie left off. And players will be, according to EA, "recreate and re-live the greatest moments from the movie, cartoon series, and action toy line", all while "taking control of a dozen different G.I.Joes along the way." That's a big undertaking, but I have faith in EA, if anybody can do it, EA can!

A New Aliens Vs. Predator Game!

Now this game has even less information about it than G.I. Joe. The new Aliens Vs. Predator game is going to be published by SEGA. And SEGA has handed development of the game to Rebellion Developments, who made the 2007 PSP version of Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem. That's good news for gamers that have played the game because obviously these guys know what they're doing. And the first game got pretty good marks overall from the gaming community.

In the meantime, if you decide that you want to do other things with your PSP beside playing games, check out this website. On the website you'll be able to download all the PSP games, music, movies, software, and whatever else you can think of to download for less than the cost of a single PSP game! You can join for one year, or you can join for a lifetime. All with unlimited downloads for your PSP! And the best part is, the lifetime plan only costs 10 bucks more than the one year plan! Check it out! You won't be disappointed!

Phantasy Star For The PSP!

That's right! You read it right, Phantasy Star for the PSP! For all of the uninformed out there, Phantasy Star was one of the best games for the Dreamcast!(Rest in peace old buddy!!!) This was in my opinion, one of the best RPG's of all time! Just because of the online component! That's right, Dreamcast WAS online!

What made Dreamcast's online component so beautiful was, that this was waaaaayyyyy before the concept of broadband was even implemented into the current generation of next-gen video game systems! Dreamcast did the whole online thing over your regular phone line!!! All of this and not a hint of slow-down that I can remember! I remember playing not only Phantasy Star Online but also NFL2k1 online over my regular phone line! Incredible! The Dreamcast was surely before it's time!

I remember loooong nights, sometimes breaking daylight playing Phantasy Star on the Dreamcast! And I'm pretty sure that I wasn't the only one, considering the massive audience of people that I met online! This game defined the term MMORPG! Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game! And just like the rest of my old Dreamcast online friends out there, I was disappointed when the system died and Sega decided to become a software-only company!

That being said, this is a good move for Sony and the PSP. Hopefully they'll be able to get all of those ex-Dreamcast, ex-Phantasy Star players on board with the Phantasy Star Portable! The PSP on the PSP! And on top of all that, it's only a month away! Sega has confirmed a March 3rd date! Sega also confirmed that this installment of Phantasy Star on the PSP will be a direct sequel to Phantasy Star Universe! That will make a lot of fanboy's out there happy because it means that the same classes and races will be available in the PSP version of the game! You have the good news, now for the bad news!

As spectacular as this game coming to the PSP is, they didn't include online play!!! I know, I know, online is what made the whole Phantasy Star experience unique, but they decided against it! Instead they opted for the 4 player wireless option via the ad-hoc option. Oh well you can't have everything! It's better than nothing, because Sega has always been able to put together a good offline story mode. It just won't be the same without online play but we'll be alright!

I remember many nights just being online trading weapons with my online friends! Some of the weapon's I couldn't use because i wasn't leveled up enough! That made the game more interesting and challenging! You couldn't wait to go into the world and level up so you could see exactly what that weapon could do! Either way it's gonna be a great addition to the PSP library! Don't forget March 3rd! That's right around the corner! Start saving those quarters now!

God Of War: Chains Of Olympus!

Whats up people! To all of the uninformed out there, God Of War: Chains Of Olympus was recently chosen by Gameinformer magazine as one of the top 50 games of 2008! Thats a big deal for the PSP, because according to all of the naysayers out there, the PSP is virtually dead! Now true PSP lovers and owners like us don't believe it, do we?

Anyway, according to Gameinformer magazine Ready At Dawn Studios, the people behind God Of War:Chains Of Olympus, "...successfully condensed the essence of the Ghost of Sparta, resulting in one of the best pure action games of 2008." That quote is really very, very descriptive of the action of the game.

If you owned a Playstation 2 and ever played God of War on the system, then you could play this GOW on the PSP with no problem. The controls are similiar and the action from the PS2 to the handheld PSP is seamless. There are a lot of sequences that will be familiar to the PS2 owner, allowing you to play this game with as much emotion as you play the PS2 version.

A few people who don't have a PSP will complain about the lack of the analog sticks from the PS2. I own this game and let me tell you, once you get into it you will forget that you are playing a God Of War game without the benefit of the analogs. Even Gameinformer says that,"Even without the benefit of two analog sticks, the action is brutal, stylish, and addictive. Chains Of Olympus meets the high bar set by its PS2 peers, and is a worthy addition to the God Of War mythology." I couldn't have said it better myself!

If you don't have this game, or never got around to getting it, or whatever your reason for not having it,( It came out last March, good grief!) get it now, you will not be disapointed!

DragonBall For The PSP!

NAMCO BANDAI GAMES AMERICA & 20th Century Fox announced the planned release of DRAGONBALL: EVOLUTION for the PSP to coincide with the 20th Century Fox movie of the same name. That's right a Dragonball video game and movie! A live-action movie! This is sure to be a big deal for thePSP!

I'm excited about the video game but not too excited about the movie. Because you know what happens sometimes when Hollywood gets a hold of something good. They sometimes foul it up! But lately they have done good jobs on other genre's. You know the X-MEN, Hulk and others. I just hope that they don't mess this one up. DragonBall Z has been one of the most popular manga series in Japan AND the U.S. and the last thing it needs is a bad film adaptation!

Out of all the actor's that have been named for the movie, I only recognise one. And that is Chow Yun Fat! Hmmm... I wonder what part he'll play? I guess that we'll have to wait for the movie to come out in April 2009! That's right, only three more months and the first live - action Dragonball movie will be here! Let's pray that they (Hollywood) get it right!

There are numerous pictures all over the Internet about this movie. I didn't know which one was real or made up, so I decided not to post any of them to this blog! If you really need to see them, click here! In the meantime, the game promises to deliver all of the top-notch DragonBall Z action from the past games and more! There are claims of being able to hold an online feat of strength in Network Battle Mode. This will undoubtedly assist in keeping the games replay value high! Until then, I'll keep my eye open on this news!

Sony Sues Over PSP!

Thats right all you hacks out there! Sony has sued a company by the name of Datel from the U.K.! Apparently this company sells some kind of accessory that allows players to run pirated games and homebrew software on the PSP-3000!

To the uninformed out there the PSP-3000 is the latest version of the PSP, and apparently, the hardest of the PSP versions to hack into! This company, Datel has been advertising the so-called "Lite Blue Tool", which can hack the PSP-3000 with a battery so it can be modfied to play homebrew software.

Because of Sony's lawsuit, the "Lite Blue Tool" has not been released. Apparently hacking the PSP is big business! I wouldn't know anything about that because I use my PSP for its orginal purpose and know nothing about this "homebrew" stuff. If you go online and search "homebrew" you will find numerous entries on the subject.

First of all I want to say that this blog in no way endorses or recommends these hacks or mods for the PSP This blog is dedicated to those people who love their PSP the way it is! So you will not see any of that hacker stuff here! And if you are a hacker, then thisi s the wrong blog for you!

Let me tell you about All PSP games.com. This has got to be the most comprehensive website that caters to the PSP owner that I have ever seen! Because the PSP can do so many things, you need a website that can support those many things!

In addition to download games for your beloved PSP, you can also download movies, music, themes, wallpaper, etc... the list goes on and on! This is why I don't believe that the Nintendo Gameboy is still King of the handhelds. Because all it does is play games! You can listen to music! You can listen to satellite radio! You can look at movies! You can play games online! You can view pictures! You can share your pictures! There is so much that you can do with this device that the list is too long to list! What can you do with the Gameboy? Just play games... That's it!

Anyway, at Allpspgames.com you will be able to download virtually anything you want once you become a member! You have two price points to choose from and both of them are very reasonable! For $34.95 you get unlimited PSP downloads for 1 year! And for $44.95 you get unlimited downloads for the rest of your natural born life! You can't beat that!
